Regardless of the weather, Spring activities and recreation are always great. Fish are on the move, hungry and in shallow water. fisherman's dream. High water offers exciting kayak, canoe and rafting options on the rivers and lakes throughout Michigan. Some rain is a necessary ingredient for successful morel mushroom hunting, and there's always the side hills and valleys that warm up even during chilly weather. A perfect combination for a successful hunt, so you just have to discover those new spots and start picking. Various wildflowers always provide their delicate beauty as we are beckoned to the awakening forests and meadows. The fruit trees that grace Michigan orchards offer spectacular colors and odors as they burst into bloom. April and May are the chosen months for birds as they migrate back to the northern environs. Petoskey stones are glistening along the shores of northern lakes having been rooted out by the ice flows. Many other fossils are there to excite all ages.

World class golf courses are green and playable, and what eager golfer can't enjoy his golf wearing a sweater or windbreaker? No heat fatigue or swatting bugs this early. It's the ideal time to sharpen your game and not fight crowds. A perfect golfing scenario with bargain basement prices offered by many courses and resorts in the Spring. The ideal time for the entire family or groups to take up golfing.

Varioius Festivals and Historical, Cultural and Artistic events provide excitement and new learning experiences for the entire family during Springtime. Carnivals at the Festivals are always popular, even if the kids have to bundle up a bit on an unexpected cool day. Most Festivals also have indoor attractions for all ages - plus great shopping specials and sales as retailers are gearing up for the summer traffic. The savings are great, even on those hard-to-find things that are unique to the smaller towns and hamlets throughout the state.
